Home // Chester County Food Bank: Restructuring a Website To Better Serve the Community

Hammer Marketing is excited to announce the launch of Chester County Food Bank’s new website. The Exton, PA-based food bank serves community members impacted by escalating food insecurity and hunger. Formed in 2009 and currently working with more than 160 partner agencies in the Chester County area, its goal has always been to manage the distribution of food to people who need it most. Though no easy task, this has been achieved through their network of food cupboards, hot meal sites, and shelters, but not without issue. Chester County Food Bank’s original website offered a wealth of useful and important information, but in an unorganized and difficult-to-navigate fashion. Our first objective was to restructure everything in a user-friendly manner to help inform people where they could make donations and how to volunteer.

Senior Graphic Designer Kyle Huntzinger, gave some insight on the project. “Our main goal for the Chester County Food Bank’s new website was to empower the user by providing a hopeful, actionable message throughout the site.”

The first step was to reorganize the sitemap in a way that made sense; it needed to be easily navigable while also showcasing all the information being offered. Visitors can learn about Chester County Food Bank’s more than 10-year commitment to feeding the hungry, as well as discover educational programs and initiatives. The addition of an interactive map makes it easier for users to find locations to donate. The map was not the only interactive feature. Many of the pages now incorporate interactive calls to-action, making it easy for a user to navigate to another page to discover how to financially donate or volunteer.

“The site restructure paired with easy ways to find food, volunteer, and where to donate makes it a powerful informational tool, and valuable resource for the surrounding community. We’re proud to be a part of it!”

Mission Accomplished

Hammer Marketing set out to develop a user-friendly experience without loss of data.

“By strategically reorganizing the site structure we were able to highlight certain areas of the food bank that the general population may not have been aware of, including their Fresh2You Mobile Market, Eat Fresh Cooking Classes, and many other programs,” noted Kyle Huntzinger.

“The site restructure paired with easy ways to find food, volunteer, and where to donate makes it a powerful informational tool, and valuable resource for the surrounding community. We’re proud to be a part of it!”

As Chester County Food Bank continues to grow, we hope to grow with them and help reflect their new efforts.
